Huion Note X10

The Huion Note X10 is a paper notebook with a pen that also records what you write. Fokus pulls those pages off it over Bluetooth — through the Fokus mobile app or the Fokus desktop app on a Mac or Windows PC — and files each one into a note: the page itself, with its transcript underneath — text you can search, correct, and keep typing after.

What you need

• The Fokus mobile app on iOS or Android, or the Fokus desktop app on a Mac or on Windows 10 (version 1809) or later, with Bluetooth on. Pairing and syncing happen on whichever of them you pair the notebook with; the web app is where you can review and read pages too. The Linux app can't reach the notebook.
• The notebook's six-digit PIN, if you set one in the Huion app.
• The Huion app closed. The notebook talks to one app at a time, and while the Huion app is connected Fokus cannot reach it.

Pairing it

From your phone

1. In the Fokus app, open Account → Devices and tap Add a Huion Note.
2. Open the notebook's cover and tap the pen on a page to wake it, then tap Find my notebook.
3. If the notebook is locked, enter its PIN. The PIN stays on this phone — it is never sent to Fokus.
4. Notebook added — tap Sync now to bring its pages in straight away, or Done. The notebook now appears under Devices, with its battery and firmware.

From your computer

1. In the Fokus desktop app, open Settings → Devices, click Link a device, and choose Huion Note X10.
2. Wake the notebook the same way — open the cover and tap the pen on a page — then click Find my notebook. The first time on a Mac, macOS asks whether Fokus may use Bluetooth: allow it. Windows doesn't ask.
3. If the notebook is locked, enter its PIN. It stays on this computer, encrypted by the system (on a Mac, in your login keychain), and is never sent to Fokus.
4. Notebook added — click Sync now, or Done.

You can pair the same notebook from both. Each keeps its own copy of the PIN, and syncs only the pages still on the notebook when it runs.

Syncing

Sync now on the notebook's card pulls every page stored on it — pages you wrote before pairing included — and uploads them to your account. On the phone the card is under Account → Devices; on a computer, under Settings → Devices. Two settings on the same card decide the rest; on the web and the desktop app they read Clear pages from the notebook after import and Sync when the Fokus app opens.

• Sync when Fokus opens (on by default) does the same whenever you open, or come back to, the Fokus app on a phone or computer that paired the notebook — quietly, and at most once every ten minutes while the app keeps running. A notebook that isn't nearby is simply skipped.
• Clear pages after import (on by default) removes a page from the notebook only after Fokus has it safely. A page that arrived with strokes missing is never cleared, so it comes again on the next sync; once a complete copy is in review, discard the one marked as having missing strokes. Turn the setting off to keep every page on the notebook as well.

On a phone, syncing only runs while the app is open: leave the app mid-sync and it stops cleanly, with nothing more cleared. On a computer a sync carries on while Fokus is in the background, until it finishes, or until you close its window or quit Fokus. Either way, an interrupted sync is picked up by the next one, which reads the notebook again — pages Fokus already has are not imported twice.

A page with only dots on it has no ink Fokus can import. It stays on the notebook, and the card says how many pages it could not import.

Reviewing pages

Synced pages wait for you to decide where they go. On the phone, open them from the pages to review banner in Notes or Review on the notebook's card; on the web, from the button above your notes list or from Settings → Devices. For each page, choose:

• New note — titled from what you wrote once the page is transcribed, otherwise Handwritten note and the date. Change the title if you like.
• Add to note — the page goes at the end of a note you pick.
• Skip — it stays in review for next time.

Same note as the page before keeps a multi-page entry together in one note.

A page you don't want can be discarded. Its image is deleted and it is not imported again — if it is still on the notebook and Clear pages after import is on, the next sync clears it.

In the note

Each page shows up as a block: the page image, and its transcript beneath it.

• The transcript is ordinary text. Search finds it, it shows in previews and exports, and you can fix a misread word right there — on the web and in the mobile app.
• Keep typing above or below the page as anywhere else. Press Enter on an empty last line of the transcript to step out below the page.

On the web, each page also has three buttons:

• Hide text folds the transcript away so only the page shows. It only hides it from view — the text is still there — and the page opens with its text showing again next time.
• Transcribe again asks for a fresh transcription. Keep the note open until it arrives, then choose Replace the text or Keep mine. A transcript that is still empty is filled in without asking.
• Remove page takes the block out of the note.

In the mobile app you can read and edit the transcript, but those buttons aren't there.

Transcription and your allowance

Transcription is part of the Meeting Scribe add-on. Each transcription uses one page of a monthly pages allowance, separate from your recording minutes — Transcribe again uses another. With Meeting Scribe on, Settings → AI agents on the web shows how many pages you've used this month and when the count resets.

Without Meeting Scribe, pages are still imported and filed, and on the web the page says transcription needs the add-on. When a month's pages are used up, new pages say so too. Pages like these are not transcribed later by themselves: use Transcribe again on the web once you have Meeting Scribe, or once the allowance resets.

Unlinking

Tap the unlink icon on the notebook's card in Account → Devices on the phone, or click Unlink under Settings → Devices on the web or the desktop app. Pages already in your notes stay where they are, and pages waiting for review stay there too. Unlinking on a phone or computer also forgets the PIN it stored there.
