Attachments

Keep the brief, the contract, or the screenshot on the item it belongs to — on every device.

Some work doesn't fit in a title or a description. A signed contract, a design mockup, a spreadsheet of numbers you'll need on the call — attachments let you keep those files on the task, event, or objective they belong to, instead of hunting through email for them later.

Attachments sync across every Fokus client, so a PDF you attach at your desk is on your phone before you've stood up.

Add an attachment

Open any task, event, or objective and find the Attachments section.

  • On the web and desktop apps — click Add attachment, or simply drag a file onto the open item. A highlighted border shows you're over a valid drop target.
  • On mobile — tap the + beside the Attachments heading and choose where the file comes from:
    • Photo library — anything already in your camera roll.
    • Files — documents from iCloud Drive, Google Drive, Dropbox, or your device.
    • Take photo — snap a whiteboard, a receipt, or a page of handwritten notes and attach it without leaving the task.

Notes work differently

Notes don't have an attachments list. Anything you want in a note goes into the document — use the image button in the editor toolbar to place a picture inline, where you can see it in context. See Notes.

What you can attach

Maximum size5 MB per file
ImagesJPEG, PNG, GIF, WebP, SVG
DocumentsPDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
TextPlain text, Markdown, CSV
ArchivesZIP

Why 5 MB?

Attachments are meant for the reference material around your work, not for shipping large media. If a file is bigger than that, keep it in your cloud drive and paste the link into the item's description instead.

Open and remove

Tap or click any attachment to open it. Images and PDFs preview in place; everything else opens in your browser or hands off to whichever app handles that file type.

On mobile, images show a real thumbnail so you can pick the right screenshot at a glance. Other files get a colored icon by type — red for PDFs, green for spreadsheets, blue for documents.

To remove one, use the trash icon on the attachment. Fokus asks first, because deleting an attachment deletes the file itself — it isn't moved to a bin and there's no undo.

Attachments follow the item

Deleting a task, event, or objective takes its attachments with it. If a file matters beyond the item it's attached to, keep a copy somewhere else.
