Overview

Captain Fokus is the main conversational AI in Fokus. In the reviewed product, the fastest way to open it is the Spotlight chat surface: press f anywhere in the app, or use Cmd/Ctrl + K and switch into chat.

In the live Spotlight UI, Captain Fokus appears as a focused chat overlay with thread history, an Ask Fokus AI... input, image upload, and microphone input. It is not only a help assistant. It can directly act on your workspace by creating or updating items when you ask it to.

Captain Fokus is action-oriented

Captain Fokus is built to do real work for you, not just answer generic questions. In practice, that means it can create tasks, events, notes, and objectives, request scheduling, and surface planning insights from your current workspace context.

What Captain Fokus Can Do

Create, update, complete, search, and organize tasks.
Create and modify calendar events, including dates, times, reminders, and locations.
Create, update, and search notes.
Create objectives and trigger objective task generation when that workflow is available.
Look up buckets and use them to place work into the right project or category.
Request schedule generation and return productivity insights or time-distribution summaries.
Resolve relative dates such as today, tomorrow, or next week against your actual timezone.
Accept typed prompts, voice input, and image input in the chat workflow.
Keep reusable conversation threads that you can reopen from history.

How to Access It

Press f anywhere in Fokus when Spotlight is closed.
Press Cmd/Ctrl + K to open Spotlight, then use the chat surface.
Type directly into Ask Fokus AI... for normal requests.
Use the image button to attach a screenshot or photo when you want Captain Fokus to extract or interpret visual information.
Use the microphone button for voice-first capture.
Open thread history from the top-right corner if you want to revisit earlier conversations.

Settings Surface

In the reviewed interface, Settings > AI Agents is the main control center for Captain Fokus. This is where Fokus exposes Captain-specific controls such as Always On, conversation style (Concise, Balanced, or Detailed), token budget visibility, context sharing, learning behavior, and conversation-history controls. The same settings page also houses adjacent AI routines such as Morning Briefing, End-of-Day Review, ODA, and privacy options.

Settings are centralized, workflows are distributed

The settings page controls Captain Fokus behavior, but the work itself still happens in context. Captain Fokus lives in Spotlight chat, ODA runs from Objectives, and TEA shows up through enriched tasks in planner views.

How Captain Fokus Works In Practice

Capture or ask in natural language

Type a request such as creating a task, planning an event, summarizing a situation, or helping you structure an objective.

Let Captain Fokus act on your workspace

Behind the scenes, Captain Fokus can search tasks, notes, objectives, events, buckets, schedules, and insight data to answer or take action.

Review the result in context

If Captain Fokus creates or updates something, continue refining it from the normal Fokus surface instead of treating chat as a separate silo.

Reuse history when a conversation matters

Use thread history to continue longer planning sessions instead of starting from scratch every time.

Telegram Integration

Captain Fokus is not limited to the web app. In the current backend implementation, Telegram can be linked as a chat bridge, which means Telegram text messages, voice notes, and photos can be routed into the same Captain Fokus agent and answered back inside Telegram.

That makes Telegram useful for away-from-desk capture. If your Telegram account is connected, you can use it to send fast requests to Captain Fokus such as adding a task, asking for workspace help, or sending a voice note to capture work on the go. Fokus also supports Telegram notifications such as reminders and daily routine summaries when those notifications are enabled.

Important Behaviors

Captain Fokus is treated as a core product capability and is marked Always On in the reviewed settings page.
It uses current workspace context when relevant, subject to your privacy and context-sharing settings.
Voice and image support make it useful for quick capture, not only typed planning.
Some AI systems sit beside Captain Fokus rather than inside the chat surface itself. ODA is triggered from Objectives, while TEA works in the background after task creation.
The settings page is not a complete map of everything Captain Fokus can do. Some capabilities are visible only through the actual chat flow or connected integrations such as Telegram.
